Glen Shires
Senior Software Engineer
Google
Glen Shires is the lead software engineer for Google Speech APIs and the Chrome Speech Service. He also chairs the W3C Speech API group. He specializes in the integration of internet, speech-recognition, video and voice communications, and has been granted over 10 patents in these areas. Prior to Google, he led development teams for voice and speech products at Intel, General Magic and Picazo Communications. Glen received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he developed a speech-recognition engine for his Master’s Thesis.
