Dr. Kathy Brown has been actively engaged in the customer care field for over 15 years. She has held senior level positions at leading self-service technology companies including Nuance and BeVocal. Kathy has been at the forefront of the delivery of ground breaking customer care applications in Natural Language Processing, Adapted Acoustic Models, Data-Driven Personalization Interfaces, and Wireless Mobile. At Nuance Communications, she was Director of an award-winning Professional Services Organization recognized as the industry leader in the delivery of next-generation speech technology solutions. At Nuance, Kathy received the President’s Award for her outstanding technical leadership and management in deploying cutting edge self-service applications. She extended her career at BeVocal where she built and directed a cloud-based managed services team that delivered next generation mobile multi-channel voice and data solutions. Throughout her career, she has advanced the state-of-the-art in user interfaces employing data-driven techniques to extract user statistics and to optimize the performance of self-service solutions. Kathy received her PhD from the University of California, Davis in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Speech Technology. She has a strong publication record in the areas of Speech Recognition, Speech Synthesis, Language Identification, Speech Enhancement, and Speaker Identification.
