Giuseppe Di Fabbrizio
Lead Researcher AT&T Labs - Research

Giuseppe Di Fabbrizio holds a degree in electrical engineering (MSEE) from the Politecnico di Torino, and a computer science PhD from the University of Sheffiled. From 1990 to 1995, he was a senior researcher with Telecom Lab Italia (formerly CSELT), Torino. In January 1996, he joined AT&T Labs - Research in Florham Park, NJ, where he is currently a lead research scientist in the Networking & Services Research Laboratory.
During his career he conducted research mainly in multimodal and spoken dialog systems, conversational agents, natural language processing, multimodal and speech system architectures, platforms and services. More recently, he has been contributing on automatic text summarization, sentiment analysis, opinion mining, and machine learning methods for natural language processing. He published around 60 papers on these topics and he was awarded 15 patents. Di Fabbrizio was instrumental in the development and deployment of the AT&T VoiceTone® Natural Language Dialog Automation product for the AT&T business enterprise customers, the first large-scale network-grade natural language spoken dialogue system.
In 2008, he was the recipient of the AT&T Science and Technology Medal Award. In 2011, he received "Lifted by the Cloud", an FCC award for innovative uses of cloud technologies to enhance accessibility for the AT&T Speech Mashup innovation.
Di Fabbrizio served as technical co-chair of 12th Annual Conference of the International Speech Communication Association (Interspeech 2011). He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and regularly contributes to international scientific committees.
